The object is a Japanese Meiji era (1868-1912) celadon porcelain container and lid with an enameled floral decoration & a blue bird. This type of ceramic is common for the period, w/ hand-painted decor featuring birds & flowers. Some items like this in Europe suggest they were used for placing razors, combs or toothbrush.
Dating from the 19th century, other objects from Meiji Era have similar characteristics, like vases & teapots w floral & bird decorations.
This oval porcelain box with Lid is in a Celadon green glaze, featuring a fitted lid & hand-painted decoration of a blue bird & assorted white flowering branches.
Excellent antique condition with a high-gloss glaze & vibrant, well-preserved, details. No chips, cracks, or significant wear are evident.
