While working as a logger Stan Langtwait had a habit of molding figures out of mud & clay. He created pottery known as "Shapes of Clay" at his factory in Graham, WA. After the eruption of Mount St. Helens in 1980, Stan incorporated ash from the mountain into his statues. Mr. Langtwait actively created these pieces right up until his death in 1985.This exquisite piece of art is a typical Stan Langtwait "ash piece". This cat figurine is a flawless piece of ash/clay art. Stan used molds to hand press his creations giving them some rough places & indentations on the surface. The bottom is signed "Stan."
