Found at an estate sale. The organizers were telling me this gentleman was very well traveled and acquired this mask while in Ghana in the 1950's.
The mask depicts River Goddess Zaire.The beads are affixed to the wood carved mask with what appears to be a hardened sandy mud. The brightly colored tassels that are normally attached to the rings on the ears are missing. 1 ring missing on one ear and one on top of hair. The mask is beautifully carved and beaded and has a hanging device on the back.
